Don't tell Chief...Soon he'll go in for his neuter and dental. Then he will be all ready for adoption!
Meet Chief our newest foster! He's absolutely and adorable boy. Very laid back, very sweet and easy going. He gets along beautifully with the other greyhounds in his foster home. Chief will be 4 years old in June of 2017. Chief LOVES to kill the stuffies and he's a really smart boy.
Chief is recovering from a leg injury. Chief will be available for adoption the end of March 2017.
2/26/2017 Update on Chief. He appears to be small animal friendly. He has no reaction to the small dogs and kitties at the vets office. He is the perfect patient and usually takes a short nap during his bandage changes. Two more weeks of bandage changes then 2 more weeks of restricted exercise and then he''ll be ready for his neuter and dental. Then he'll be ready for his forever home!
Sonic was an owner surrender. She's 11 1/2 years old and like all seniors she's an absolute sweetheart. Sonic is small animal friendly. Sonic is very very smart! She learned to use the dog door almost immediately.
She would do best in a quiet home. Sonic likes to Nap and take short trips outside for a little sunbathing. She's a very sweet girl.
Sonic has a chronic condition called CUPS. She only has a few teeth left but it's possible that eventually she will need to have the remaining teeth removed, Some information about CUPS:
Sonic also has corns. While under anesthesia for her last dental the vet hulled her corns but one is coming back. There are different things you can do for corns to make walking more comfortable for the greyhound. Currently I am using a dremel on the one corn that has come back and that is giving her relief.
Greyhounds and corns:
Greyt news for Sonic! Her blood work came back and she was able to have her dental this past week. It was a bit rough on her. She had a lot of extractions. The vet wanted to keep her overnight to keep her on fluids and overall just keep an eye on her.
She is already feeling much better! She will be on antibiotics and pain meds for awhile, but the worst is now behind her.
Sonic has not had such a great life for awhile now but that's all behind her.
Sonic is 11 1/2 years old and we want to do everything we can to ensure her the happiest healthiest life possible from now on.
Now...we just need to fatten her up a bit.
Min had a home visit last week. Everything went well and she'll be going home after she recovers from her spay.
Of course the couple fell in love with little Mini as soon as they met her. Who could resist that face!
Sonic typically sleeps in her crate with the door open or one of the dog beds. The other day I peeked in the crate, Sonic wasn't there. Looked around on the dogs beds, Sonic wasn't there...
Fosters are not allowed up on the furniture but....she's an old lady and she's not our typical foster. She can rest/sleep where ever she is comfortable. It's good to see her getting comfortable in her new surroundings and she seems just a little bit stronger.
She's eating puppy food mixed with canned food moistened with no salt chicken broth and water 4 times a day.
Once we get her blood work back, she'll get her dental and then she'll really start to feel soooo much better!
Sonic came to us as an owner surrender, the group that placed her no longer exists.
She's 11 1/2 years old and she is going to need a lot of extra care. Her teeth are horrible and covered in black tartar. She'll be getting a much needed dental very soon. She's 9 pounds under her racing weight which is A LOT for a greyhound and likely due at least partially to her horrible teeth. Her nails are horribly long which makes it uncomfortable for her to walk or stand for very long. Her skin and coat are also in bad shape.
But...the good news is that all this can be fixed! She's on 4 smaller meals of puppy food daily to help regain her strength and we're waiting on her blood work to get her teeth taken are of. In the meantime she's on antibiotics and pain meds so hopefully slowly but surely she'll feel better every day.
Please consider making a donation to help with Sonic's vet bills and care.
We will be posting updates on Sonic's progress and the transformation of this sweet little girl.
Mini had her 6 week check up with her orthopedic surgeon and everything looks greyt! Since she had a serious break he would like us to wait another 2 weeks to have her spayed. So...
Mini will be available for adoption around 8/24/2016.
She is such a sweetheart and her name fits her perfectly because she is tiny for a greyhound.
Mini is not cat or small dog friendly.
Sweet Bo will be leaving us next week for his new home!
We are so excited for him and as an added plus Bo will be local here in Cape Coral and I'll be able to see him from time to time.
Always love it when you get to keep in touch with the fosters and their new families!
Love you Mr. Bo!
Received this photo of Dougie (fawn greyhound) with his brother, Dante and the big kitty is Ghost.
What a sweet picture of them all relaxing on a lazy afternoon!
Love you Dougie!
